How do I install my Netgear EX6100 Setup?

This post will take you through the steps of downloading the Netgear EX6100 Setup as an:

Extendable (extending Wi-Fi coverage to a larger area)

Improve the Wi-Fi signal or connect 11ac Wi-Fi connection to an 11b/g/n router/gateway with an access point

Installation of an extender:

  • Set the EX6100’s switch to Extender.
  • Attach the Netgear EX6100 Setup to a power outlet that is halfway between your wireless router and your device.
  • Wait for the Power light to solidify into a solid green colour.
  • Note: If the unit does not turn on, click the On/Off button beside the switch on the side of the EX6100.
  • The Extender Client Connection light will turn on after you’ve linked to the network.
  • Go to www.mywifiext.net in your internet browser.
  • Select Proceed after entering the network password.
  • Select Proceed after inserting the network address.
  • Select Proceed after choosing Public Network or Private Network.
  • Press Continue after entering the Extender’s security settings.
  • The settings can now be applied by Genie.
  • Continue after connecting to the extender’s wireless network.
  • Finish by clicking the Finish button.

Getting Started

Netgear EX6100 Setup boosts an internal WiFi signal and enhances overall signal strength over long distances,expanding the coverage of a WiFi network.The signals from an existing WiFi router or connection point are replicated by an extender.

Installation of the Access Point:

Set the Netgear EX6100 Setup switch to Access Point.

  • Connect the router/gateway to the Netgear EX6100 Setup Ethernet port via an Ethernet cable.
  • Connect the EX6100 to a power outlet near your router/gateway.
  • Wait for the Power light to solidify into a solid green colour.

Note: If the unit does not turn on, click the On/Off button beside the switch on the side of the EX6100.

  • The Extender Client Connection light will turn on after you’ve linked to the network.
  • Go to mywifiext.net in your internet browser.
  • The computer can identify and add the settings based on the internet connection.
  • Pick whether the wired connection is Public or Private after successfully identifying the internet connection. Continue by pressing the Enter key.
  • Press Continue after entering the Extender’s security settings.
  • The settings can now be applied by Genie.
  • Continue after connecting to the extender’s wireless network.
  • Finish by clicking the Finish button.

WPS binds you to the internet.

WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) allows you to connect to a wireless WiFi network without having to type in the network name or password. The WPS button on the router or connection point is a real button.

WEP network protection is not provided by WPS. See Link with NETGEAR genie Smart Setup on page 8 if you’re using WEP encryption.

To bind to WPS, follow these steps:

  1. Push the WPS button on the extender’s side pad.
  2. The WPS LED turns on and off.
  3. Click the WPS button on your router or connection point within two minutes.
  4. The extender’s WPS LED turns solid green, the Router Connection LED turns green, and the extender connects to the current WiFi network.
  5. Note: If the Router Link LED does not illuminate, repeat the process. If it still won’t turn on, go to page 8 and look at Connect with NETGEAR genie Smart Setup.
  6. To link the extender to the 5 GHz band, repeat steps 1 and 2 if your WiFi router supports it.
  7. Determine the name of the new extender network.
  8. Depending on if the extender is connected to your WiFi network in 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz, the extender’s wireless network name (SSID) switches to the current WiFi network name,with the suffixes _2G or _5G appended to the name
  9. Existing WiFi network name, for example. • New expanded network name.My Network Name 2G or 5G are two examples of network names.
  10. Join the latest expanded network for your current WiFi systems.
  11. Using the same WiFi password that you use to connect to your router.
  12. Unplug the extender and relocate it closer to the region where the WiFi signal is weak.
  13. Your selected position must be within range of your current WiFi router network.
  14. Wait one minute after plugging the extender into an electrical socket.
  15. Green is the colour of the Power LED.
  16. Use the Router Link LED on the front panel to assist you in determining the best location for the extender-to-router connection.
